DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Development Committee acts as the student liaisons to the rest of campus, educates students on the purpose of the Georgia Tech Student Foundation, and encourages student participation.

The mission of the Georgia Tech Student Foundation is to foster and promote the spirit of philanthropy and the need to support Georgia Tech through our contributions of time and money. The Development Committee of the Georgia Tech Student Foundation represents the chief vehicle of this mission. The committee represents the public relations and marketing arm of the organization in which student participation from the student body is encouraged. Development Committee members take an active role in educating students and student organizations about the mission and vision of the Georgia Tech Student Foundation through the campaign and various programs. The Development Campaign also raises student contributions for the endowment, which through the Investments Committee, is invested, generating the funds in which the Allocations Committee can make allocations to new student groups and initiatives across campus.

In the Fall the Development Committee presents "SF Fair" which is a week-long event that educates the campus of Georgia Tech about goodwill and the philanthropic mission of GTSF. Throughout the year, the Committee gives informational presentations to student organizations, encouraging students to participate with the student foundation. The three ways that a student can participate with the Georgia Tech Student Foundation include joining a committee, making a pledge, or submitting an allocations application. In Spring, the Committee holds "SF Week", another week long event that celebrates the benefits of the Georgia Tech Student Foundation and promotes contributions to GTSF campaign.

One perk of pledging to Student Foundation is that you recieve one athletic point. By pledging to Student Foundation and 1st and 10 in the same year, you receive an extra half point, totaling 2.5 points. Athletic points secure great seating at GT football games as an alumni. Just think, $5 per point while an undergrad, and $100 per point once you have graduated!

INVESTMENTS COMMITTEE

Investments Committee manages the portfolio, decides where to invest the endowment, and grows the endowment to enable more student funding.

The Investments Committee (IC) is the student group that handles the investments decisions for the endowment. The mission statement of the Investments Committee is three-fold:

  • Increase the Endowment
  • Development our Student Membership
  • Be in a Constant State of Improvement

The Investments Committee meets twice weekly to discuss markets conditions and economic developments in order to determine proper asset allocations to grow the endowment. At these meetings, members make equity recommendations for the portfolio, then the committee debates the pros and cons of the proposed equity and decides whether or not to invest. Other on going activities include asset and sector allocation analysis, industry analysis, and sell strategy review.

FRESHMAN FOUNDATION

Founded in the Fall of 2007, the Freshman Foundation is a Freshman Leadership Organization with the mission to give first year students a truly unique leadership experience that will prepare them for larger leadership roles within Georgia Tech Student Foundation and across campus. You can read much more about the Freshman Foundation on its website.

ALLOCATIONS COMMITTEE

The Allocations Committee grants student groups money made from the investments of the endowment. You can learn more about the allocations committee, including how and when to apply, and organizations on campus who we have donated in our allocations section.
